They wondered what it could be and what was going to happen to the playground? Many students responded with guesses like:
It will become a swimming pool.
It’s a helicopter landing pad.
It will be a parking lot.
These were all “smart” guesses, however, over the long weekend some dedicated volunteers came to our school to convert our blacktop to a more usable play space. 22 people banded together to provide the paint, materials, sand, work hours, and stencils to make this project happen. A detailed list of individuals and their roles in the endeavor are at the bottom of this post. The updated hot top now looks like this:
Thanks to Kathy Bobay’s dedication, she was also able to orchestrate a 23.5 ton delivery of sand from Plourde Sand and Gravel. Our two playground and one preschool sand boxes are teaming with clean sand for our kids to play in.
Thank you to all of those that helped! Our staff and students are very appreciative.
Steven Smith & Marlana Lord donated paint and supplies for painting the USA Map.
