Distance Learning Update – Underhill & Memorial Schools

Dear Fred C. Underhill School and Hooksett Memorial School families,

First and foremost, we want to thank you for everything you are doing to support your children throughout their Distance Learning experiences. COVID-19 has presented many stressors and new challenges for families. We understand the importance of providing families with flexibility during this time. Families have had to adapt quickly and make significant changes at home in order to manage responsibilities for work, school, and keeping our loved ones safe.

As we approach Day 16, we want you to know that we will be updating the Distance Learning plan for our schools to give you flexibility while maintaining an instructional focus. We are moving towards a blended model to deliver instruction and provide students with practice opportunities. This model will allow us to reintegrate the students into the Hooksett School District’s academic programs, so they can continue to develop their learning of essential skills/concepts and help the students with their transition when they return to school.

We envision the blended model as an “on-demand” way of providing the students with what they need instructionally, while offering families the flexibility to support their children in completing the lessons and activities whenever they choose during the day. Teachers will be posting daily video lessons for English/Language Arts and Mathematics. These lessons will be aligned with the core instructional programs the schools currently use: Imagine It! and Math in Focus. The teachers will also post daily assignments on the website.

Students will need to access the Hooksett School District Distance Learning website to view their teachers’ lessons. They will be assigned practice pages/activities to go along with the video lessons. The practice pages/activities will come directly from the Imagine It! and Math in Focus books, so you do not have to print or photocopy any of the assignments. Students/families will be required to electronically submit 3 completed assignments each week to their teachers with your assistance. These assignments will be designated on the Distance Learning site. You can access the Distance Learning site at https://underhill.sau15.net/ or https://memorial.sau15.net/.

Teachers will continue to have office hours to answer questions or to provide support for the lessons and assignments. Starting on April 6, 2020, the teachers’ office hours will be 9:00-11:00 am and 2:00-4:00 pm. You may email them directly to ask questions or seek support for the assignments.

Finally, we thank you for your positivity, support, patience, and flexibility as we move forward with Distance Learning. Please let us know if you need any support. Take care and be well!

Sincerely,
