Dear Hooksett Families and Staff,
Last night, at the Hooksett School Board meeting, the members voted to amend the school calendar for the month of December. Students at Cawley Middle School will continue with remote learning from December 7th to December 23rd. The decision to switch to remote learning was based on an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and the number of students and staff members who need to be quarantined as a result of being identified as a close contact.
For students who attend Underhill and Memorial, in-person instruction will resume on Monday and will continue until December 23rd as long as adequate staffing levels can be maintained. If staffing levels cannot be maintained at either of the schools, students will then shift to remote learning.
Every effort will be made to maintain staffing levels at each school during this time. In an attempt to accomplish this goal, some individual classrooms may switch to remote learning if more than 25% of the students in a classroom need to be quarantined as a result of being identified as a close contact. A class will remain in remote learning until the number of students needing be quarantined falls below the 25% threshold.
The Board did not make any changes to the calendar in January. Students at every school will learn remotely from January 4th to January 15th. We are expecting to return to in-person instruction on January 19th.
If you have any questions pertaining to these changes, please contact your child’s Principal.
Sincerely,
William J. Rearick
Superintendent of Schools
