Dear Parents/Guardians,

I can’t believe there are only a few more weeks until the start of school. I’m looking forward to a new school year with the students, staff, and families at Underhill School! See below for some important information about the start of school.

• Meet Your Teacher Event

  • The Meet Your Teacher event will be on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 1:30 to 3:30pm for all Preschool to Grade 2 students. This is a drop in time for students to briefly visit with teachers and to see their classrooms and other parts of the school. We are planning to have a school bus here at school for the students to see as well.

  • There will be a station set up at the main entrance where you will need to check in to verify your child’s dismissal plans for the first few days of school.

• First Day of School

  • The first day of school is Tuesday, September 5, 2023 for all Hooksett students in grades K-8. Preschool will start on Monday, September 11, 2023.

• Start and End Times

  • K-2 students can begin entering the school via Bus Drop-Off or Parent Drop-Off starting at 8:40am. The school day officially begins at 9:00am.

  • The dismissal process begins for K-2 students at approximately 3:10pm. Parent Pick-Up students are called to be dismissed first. Students riding the bus and New Morning students are called to be dismissed after Parent Pick-Up.

  • Preschool: The morning session for 3 year olds is from 9:15am to 11:30am.  The afternoon session for 4 year olds is from 12:30pm to 3:00pm.

• Pick Up Patrol

  • We use Pick Up Patrol as our dismissal program. It is a secure online program that allows parents to manage students’ daily dismissal plans. The Pick Up Patrol email will be sent to you on Thursday, August 17, 2023. The email will prompt you to set up your account and to set your child’s dismissal plans. If you don’t receive a message from Pick Up Patrol, please check your spam box before contacting the school. The link only lasts for 24 hours, so be sure to set up your accounts.

• Re-Registration for Returning Students

  • For students returning to Underhill School: You should have received an email from the school district asking you to complete re-registration forms for your child prior to the school year in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Students need to have updated contact information, medical and permission forms completed before the start of school. This information is necessary to support your child’s safety and communication with our faculty/staff. Please follow the directions in the re-registration email to begin entering your information. A Returning Student Registration form must be completed for each returning student in your family.

  • For all new students: You do not need to complete the re-registration forms.

• Bus Routes

  • Bus routes have been published on the school district website. You can view the routes at https://hooksett.sau15.net/transportation/.

  • Please note that the bus routes may change. Parents will be notified of any changes/revisions.

• Breakfast and Lunch Program

  • The Hooksett School Lunch Program serves the Fred C. Underhill School, the Hooksett Memorial School and the David R. Cawley Middle School.  Our program offers both breakfast and lunch for all students on a daily basis.

  • The daily price for breakfast is $1.50 and lunch is $2.90. Snack Milk can be purchased for $0.50. Please visit https://hooksett.sau15.net/nutrition-services/ for more information regarding the menus and payment options.

• Parent/Student Handbook

  • The Hooksett School District Parent/Student Handbook is available on the school district website. It will be important for you to review the policies and procedures for the Hooksett School District. Please visit https://hooksett.sau15.net/ and go to the Students and Families section or click here for the handbook.

• School Calendar

  • The Hooksett School District calendar can be found on our school’s website at https://underhill.sau15.net/ or click here for the calendar.

• School Supplies

  • The Hooksett School District provides students with basic supplies for school. Your child’s teacher may provide you with a list of additional supplies that may be needed. Students will need to bring their own backpack, lunch/lunch money, healthy snack, and water bottle. Please remember to label your child’s personal belongings.

• Before and After School Program

  • New Morning School offers an on-site school age before and after school program located at Underhill Elementary School for Memorial and Underhill students. Morning drop off begins at 7am and evening pickup by 6pm.  Registration information and rates are available on their website at www.newmorningschools.com or by phone at (603) 669-3591. Spots do fill up fast and children must be fully registered before they can attend the program.
